Volunteer Fundraising Officer: Job Description

The Tanzania Women Research Foundation (TAWREF) is seeking a volunteer Fundraising Officer to guide strategy and implement action plans relating to charitable and partnership fundraising. This role would be ideal for a graduate student or team, retired individual or couple, global minded non-profit organization or church sponsor.

The role of the Fundraising Officer is an exciting opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to help TAWREF better develop their strategic planning goals and to learn effective and needed skill sets in charity fundraising.

Initially it’s important for this individual to live and work in Moshi, Tanzania for an agreed upon period of time. Once strategies and programs are implemented, it is anticipated this individual could return to their country of origin and provide continued monitoring/assistance from that location. The long term goal will be to train and transition all fundraising responsibilities to designed TAWREF staff.
Although Moshi living costs would be responsibility of volunteer, TAWREF would provide assistance with travel logistics, locating suitable accommodation, and obtaining necessary volunteer visas.

Key Responsibilities of Role:
  • Guide and design fundraising strategies.
  • Identify/develop new and alternative sources of funding.
  • Implement effective fundraising systems, policies, and guidelines.
  • Help meet or exceed our annual planned fundraising target (e.g., US$500,000).
  • Train and transition all fundraising skill sets to designated TAWREF staff.
  • Maintain current and accurate donation records.
  • Work with agreed quarterly targets.
  • Conduct any other strategic task related to fundraising.
